Burton is Getting the Community Involved.
There’s no doubt you’ve seen the HP commercial implying that Burton used HP to rep their brand name as a start-up. (If not it’s below)
The vid says they know that it’s not JUST about the quality of the product or “what they are saying, but how they say it” and it’s evident they know how to pick the right riders to get their name out. They sent 18 snowboarders from 9 countries to the ‘06 Torino Winter Games. On the social media front, they have a really cool site where users can interact with the brand through video. Burton’s next step into the social media kiddie pool is the “Because of Snowboarding” campaign. They are asking riders/fans of the sport to share their stories of how Snowboarding has affected their lives in 500 words or less.
They are giving away some pretty rad prizes every week, and have some examples on the site available to view or download (but not embed – weak) I wish they would have included some other things as well, like the ability to submit a video response/hi-light reel. Oh and why can’t I check out the submissions? Anyway no campaign is perfect thought, right?
I’d like to deticate this post to all those headed up to Killington Vermont the weekend of Feb 1-3. We are going to have a blast. BECAUSE OF SNOWBOARDING!!

(because there are no photos of Misha online)

Wait. People end up in the hospital after snowboarding?! Ok, I’m having some serious second thoughts about all this.
